On Friday, September 30, 2021, customers of the financial institution, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) started having a torrid experience.

The ever-reliable mobile banking application shutdown and other payment channels suffered different forms of afflictions that made nonsense of services offered.

“It was a very unpleasant experience, When it started we thought it was the usual end-of-the-month hiccups associated with most of the banks but this one has proven to be particularly torrid” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

societyNow.Ng gathered that those in charge of the operations of the bank founded on April 20, 1982, by industry legend Otunba Subomi Balogun alleviated the sufferings of customers on Independence Day.

According to the information available, services on other payment channels were restored on October 1 but the mobile banking application of the financial institution with Yemisi Edun as Managing Director remains inaccessible.

“Since Friday till now, services on the mobile platform have become impossible. You can’t even log in 99% of the time, when you do, you can’t do any transaction whatsoever. It has been an unpleasant experience considering that the Mobile application has been extremely effective, the most effective of all the ones I know” a customer stated.

SocietyNow.Ng gathered that it has not helped that despite the unpleasant experience, customers that are relentless in trying to use the FCMB mobile banking application get notifications of getting locked out of their accounts. And advisory to take steps that will require them to use the “inaccessible platform” to regain them.

Though the bank has reportedly tried to act above board by officially notifying customers that its mobile banking application is down, and advising the use of alternative channels, SocietyNow.Ng gathered that the situation remains the same.
