Details available have revealed why it is wrong to label the new Managing Director of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) a figurehead.

Figurehead is someone placed in position as a cover for another person who makes the decision.

Edun was named acting managing director in place of Adam Nuru who went on forced leave over the alleged paternity scandal.

“Edun is not unfamiliar with the role of Managing Director’’ societynow.ng learned.

“She has always acted as the Managing Director anytime Nuru was on leave or the need arose in the past, so taking up the role in this situation is just normal. It is a duty she is familiar with” societynow.ng learned.

Edun is the Director of Finance – and Chief Financial Officer – at FCMB.

She was officially named acting Managing Director to allow a proper investigation into the paternity scandal that upturned the world of substantive Managing Director Adama Nuru and started the new year on a sour note for the bank.

Her emergence as the interim boss sparked off talks of putting a figureahead in place, especially a woman to appease the public anger over the alleged crime(s) of Nuru.

Nuru is accused of fathering the children of junior staff, Moyo Thomas.

The development alleged crumbled Moyo’s marriage and reportedly resulted in a chain reaction that led to the death of her husband, Tunde Thomas.

While those who care for the Tunde started a campaign for the removal of Nuru as the Managing Director of FCMB on this premises, Friends of Nuru and Moyo deny the allegations.
