Demolition Notices: Ogun Govt Responds To Accusation Abiodun Is Persecuting Daniel
over quit and demolition notices served on some of his properties
The Ogun State Government has denied claims that Governor Dapo Abiodun is targeting former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, over quit and demolition notices served on some of his properties.
In a statement signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the government said the notices were part of a routine development audit being carried out in Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode Government Reserved Areas (GRAs) as part of ongoing urban renewal efforts.
According to the statement, the exercise involves verifying the permit status of existing developments, including residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, in line with the Town Planning Law and Regulation of the state.
It added that Daniel’s property in Sagamu GRA was among several others served with similar notices, stressing that the process was not new and had been in place even during his tenure as governor.
The government said all affected property owners were required to present their planning permits and land titles for verification within the stipulated timeframe, noting that there were no exemptions under the law.
It maintained that the move was not politically motivated and urged Daniel to comply with the directive like other residents.
The statement said Governor Abiodun held the senator in high esteem and that no one was above the laws of the state.
