Dapo Abiodun, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, displayed a very strong political clout.

And this development transpired in the stronghold of suspended governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Amosun, the governor of Ogun state is seriously backing Adekunle Akinlade, the candidate of the rival political party, Allied People’s Movement to become the next governor.

The development which pitches Amosun against the interest of his party (APC) has earned the governor suspension with the decision on the recommendation for his expulsion still hanging.

Big players in the politics of Ogun state – and outside – in a show of strong political strength – in the face of antagonism from Amosun – rallied round Abiodun yesterday in the governor’s stronghold.

“The crowd was massive, intimidating when Dapo Abiodun’s campaign train hit Abeokuta yesterday to draw the curtain on a round the state ward to ward tour” a source stated.

On the campaign train to galvanize support for Abiodun were Vice President Yemi Osibajo, Segun Osoba, Olamilekan Solomon “Yayi”, Olusola Oke, Segun Adesegun, Gbenga Obadara and Femi Ojudu.

Vice President Osinbajo and Ojudu who was the southwest coordinator for Buhari/Osinbajo campaign lend presidential support to Dapo Abiodun’s gubernatorial campaign in Amosun’s stronghold, Abeokuta South.

“The crowd was intimidating and the show of support massive. If we are to judge expected votes based on the show of support, Abiodun has eclipsed Amosun in that place” a source opined.

Abiodun who has also secured the support of former governor Gbenga Daniel and his team goes up against Amosun’s candidate Akinlade, Kashamu Buruji and Gboyega Isiaka as main opponents in the Saturday March 9 2019 gubernatorial contest.
