2019 may appear a long way off, but in line with the age long adage ”the journey of a thousand mile starts in a day” – moves to determine who becomes the next governor of Ogun state is already on.

And just like there are said to be many, who have even started campaigns, outside his government – there are some within the system ”hoping” to succeed their boss
And there are others within the Ogun Governor’s ”close knit” team as well.

Findings by societynowng.com unearth’s leading aspirants amongst the state Chief Executive Officer’s men looking forward to succeeding him as next governor of Ogun state.

Listed as hopeful successor is Dapo Abiodun, the Oil man pipped to a Senatorial position in his base by Kashamu Buruji is said to be exploring means to leverage on his personal structure and extraordinary rapport with Governor Ibikunle Amosun to become the next helmsman of Ogun state.

It is instructive to note that the Heyden man is a known gubernatorial aspirant, even before Amosun came onto the political scene as a Senator and later Governor.

The only difference with his reignited ambition is that he is a special friend to the man he hopes to succeed.

Also on the list is quiet operator Abimbola Ashiru, the current commissioner for Commerce and Industry.
A crack banker, Ashiru’s interest in the gubernatorial seat of Ogun state has always been well guarded and off the scene.

”But is close friends know of his burning desire” a source stated.

A very close friend of Segun Awolowo, the former banker over the years had cultivated influence and clout that matters.

He had consistently operated in a manner that placed him on wings of opportunity to latch onto his dream.

Sources confirmed outside of his expertise as an ex banker with much needed know how on financial manoeuvre to the government of the day, the two term commissioner draws his influence in the politics of the state from the Awolowos and palace of the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Though the death of matriarch Chief Dideolu Awolowo is believed to have knock off some of the weight of his clout and influence, he is described as still quietly clutching to his dream.

Like Dapo Abiodun, Abimbola Ashiru is hoping the governor and his party counters the People’s Democratic Party by zoning the gubernatorial ticket to his zone – Ijebu.

Also added to the list of quiet hopeful is Muyiwa Oladipo, the former commissioner for local government and chieftancy affairs now shifted to culture and tourism in the new regime.

The once upon a time youngest speaker of a State House of Assembly is rumoured to have slightly fallen on the other of the governor’s favour with his movement from ministry that ”affords opportunity of political clout” to one of ”minimal influence”.

But insiders claim the politician from Shagamu whose movement out of the Alliance for Democratic to All Nigeria People’s Party brought about a relationship with Governor Amosun is said to be quietly holding on to his dream.

The former speaker had dumped political mentor Osoba after a failed promise to field him as successor in the grand loss by the AD to PDP – with Gbenga Daniel of rival party emerging Governor.

Oladipo had held on to his ambition since then, but just like them sources claim his chances are ”not bright” based on his area of origin and emerging speculation about his current rapport with decider Amosun.

Last man on the list is Senator Gbolahan Dada, described as ”an extremely close friend of the governor”.

Informants claim from all indications the Prince from Ota is judged the aspirants with the ”brightest chance” at emerging anointed candidate to succeed Governor Amosun.
