Wale Adedayo, the former Local Government Chairman removed from office in the wake of allegations against Governor Dapo Abiodun over the handling of Local Government funds wants a return to office – but on the platform of another political party.

“By the grace of Olodumare (God) we’ll continue from where we were stopped” Adedayo declared in announcing his ambition on the platform of the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP) on Friday, August 23, 2024.

Widely labelled the definition of good governance with very visible projects while he was in office, Adedayo was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The latest move by the advocate of a better society, comes a year after he was removed on the heels of a widely publicized allegations of the diversion of local government funds against Governor Abiodun and his government.

The allegations and his removal, which generated widespread interests, came months before the Supreme Court affirmed the autonomy of the Local Government.

And President Bola Tinubu not just backing it, but setting up a Committee to ensure compliance by relevant stakeholders.

In announcing his newest move on Friday, Adedayo shared a copy of his e-campaign posted along with the narrative that highlights his agenda.

The narrative posted on his timeline reads…

By the grace of Olodumare (God)  we’ll continue from where we were stopped. And, it is all about being an Afenifere in words and in deeds. The majority of our people are at the grassroots. They remain the carriers of our Commonwealth, bearing same on their heads. The ONLY thing we owe them is good governance.

It should not surprise our friends that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) is the vehicle we picked to continue with this journey. Many have been cowed. There are those who should talk, but only do so in the confines of their rooms. But we appreciate the Nicodemuses  and the Josephs of Arimathea too, being too afraid to identify with us publicly. History will remember them for good.

The NNPP has a template for those aspiring for local government offices under its flag. These include,

I. ECONOMIC TURNAROUND

# Agriculture & Food Provision and Production

# Establishment of an industrial estate

# Establishment of Animal Ranch

# Expansion & Renovation of all markets within the LGA

# Establishment of LGA Skill & Vocational Institute

III. HEALTH IS WEALTH PROGRAMME

We will abide with these and more.

But, and that is a very big BUT (apologies to my former pastor, Pastor Ade Okonrende), we seek your support in every way. This is not about Babalawo alone. It is about rejuvenating our land. And, our sincere promise is that, we’ll not fail you!
