Aregbesola Shows Closeness To Atiku In New Pictures

Former Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has shown his newfound closeness to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The former Minister, who was a frontline member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed this through new pictures he took with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Aregbesola, who is maintaining political relevance through his group, the Omoluabi Progressives—after his exit from the APC—shared the pictures on his social media page.

The images were taken when Aregbesola hosted Atiku on Friday, May 23, 2025, at his residence in Osun.

Atiku, accompanied by Namadi Sambo—also a former Vice President of Nigeria—was in Osun to attend the coronation of former Deputy Governor Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijeshaland.

The open association between Atiku and Aregbesola has sparked significant interest, given that the former governor was a staunch member of the APC and a loyal ally of President Bola Tinubu. Atiku, on the other hand, is a leader of the PDP—the main opposition party—and a well-known political rival of Tinubu.
