Adebutu Faces Biggest Opposition To Becoming Next Ogun Gov As Party Leaders Revolt Across Regions

Gubernatorial aspirant, Ladi Adebutu is facing the biggest opposition to gubernatorial dream.

Those who should know disclosed that this development has roots in ongoing revolt against him by leaders of his People’s Democratic Party.

The revolt is said to cut across all the regions in Ogun state.

And it is naturally being fanned by his rivals within and outside the party.

“You cannot be party leader and aspirant at the same time” is said to be the theme of growing opposition against the son of multibillionaire Kessignton Adebutu.

The younger Adebutu currently owns the soul of the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party in his palms as chief financier.

He is said to be have further cement his powers by aligning with the proper caucus at the national level of the party.

Adebutu was one of those who worked for the emergence of Uche Secondus as National Chairman of the PDP by sacrificing the ambition of his state leader former Governor Gbenga Daniel.

With the control of the party firmly in his hands, Adebutu is regarded as the “official leader” of the PDP in Ogun state and meetings held in his home.

“And that is the problem, he is one of many gubernatorial aspirants and meetings to decide party affairs including how a free and fair primary would be held are discussed in his home” a source pointed out.

Societynow,ng gathered that all things being equally, the meetings of the party should hold in the home of former Governor Gbenga Daniel – based on his experience and standing in and out of politics – as party leader.

“Daniels remains the most active of the senior politicians in the state and he has great profile as a successful man of commerce and former governor of the state” a source stated.

Checks revealed Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s ego fueled battle – as a sitting president – against Daniel gave control of the party to the man of many colorful controversies Senator Kashamu Buruji.

Adebutu, a former protégé of Kashamu wrest the control from Kashamu and held on the title to it.

But he made a smart political play by making Daniel’s place in Shagamu his “political headquarters”.

This gives the impression he is under the wings of Daniels but that is only when it suits his fancy and people have come to realize that.

Societynow.ng gathered that Adebutu’s current trouble stems from his “one man” decision’s approach to party issues.

“He holds meetings when he wants…keeps people waiting endlessly at his home for meetings, doesn’t take to advice, adopts recommendations when it catches his fancies and doesn’t appear to be time bound on any thing…he generally does as he pleases and he is not answerable to anybody” a source listed the mounting allegations against him.

Sources disclosed after a clinical view of the situation, the revolting party leaders agreed on the need to have a party leader Adebutu – and other aspirants – would respect.

“Their end game is to produce a party leader who can settle issues and give proper direction for the party” a source disclosed.

Sources claim the revolting PDP leaders are afraid of the consequence of a gubernatorial campaign with Adebutu as the candidate and party leader or a government with Adebutu as Governor and party leader as well.

Societynow.ng gathered that many of the aggrieved Ogun PDP leaders have vowed to “halt” Adebutu’s gubernatorial ambition if he doesn’t yield to pressure to allow for the emergence of a “true party leader” in the state.
