This is good news from the corner of re election seeking Senator Gbenga Ashafa.

He retains the mandate of his All Progressives Congress to retain his seat at the senate despite conflict with heavy weight leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

But this victory cost him a lump sum.

He was forced to quietly pay the demanded N150m ratification fee demanded by delegates to validate his stance as an unopposed candidate in his party’s primary election.

Findings by societynowng.com revealed the Ashafa was forced to meet stipulated terms by the delegate when party decision maker, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu refused to intervene in the affair.

The Senator is said to have approached his party’s national leader and voice in Lagos state to wade into the matter and make the delegates kow tow to him.

According to an insider ‘Asiwaju told him point blank to go sort out the matter with the delegates who refused to back down in their terms’

Information pieced together revealed the declaration contrary to norms before the emergence of the ‘Ambode’ episode , and sensing possible ulterior moves to ‘cage’ him if he couldn’t resolve the situation, the Senator reportedly ‘quietly’ meet the terms and secured the party mandate to re-contest for his office in the upcoming general election
