“We Will Not Rest Until They Return” — Tinubu Orders Rescue of Niger Abduction Victims

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate commencement of a coordinated rescue operation for victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State, directing the military, police, Department of State Services, DSS, and other security and intelligence agencies to ensure that the abducted citizens are brought back safely.

Tinubu, who expressed outrage over the abduction and killing of innocent citizens by criminal elements in the state, described the perpetrators as “enemies of peace and enemies of humanity” who would not be allowed to escape justice.

The President, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, yesterday, directed the Service Chiefs to give him regular briefings on the progress of the rescue operation until all those abducted are accounted for.

“We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” Tinubu said, while consoling families affected by the attack.

He expressed sympathy to the families of those killed in what he described as a “barbaric assault”, praying for the repose of the souls of the victims and strength for their loved ones.

“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot-free,” the President said.

Tinubu assured the affected families and residents of Niger State that the Federal Government would deploy the necessary resources to support the rescue effort and strengthen security in the affected communities.

“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish,” he said.

The President also vowed that the latest attack would not weaken the resolve of the Federal Government to confront terrorism and other violent crimes threatening communities across the country.

“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” he declared.

Tinubu further said his thoughts and prayers were with the people of Niger State at the difficult moment, assuring them that the Federal Government stood firmly with the state government.

“The Federal Government stands firmly with the State Government and will provide all necessary support to aid recovery, relief, and security reinforcement,” he said.
