Why Oba Of Lagos Akiolu Went Underground Over Ambode’s Failed Bid To Get Re-Election Ticket

Almost four years ago, the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu threatened to drown some of those that opposed the emergence of Akinwunmi Ambode as governor in the Lagos Lagoon.

The Oba made the highly controversial comment as part of the campaign to help Ambode to power in 2015.

But all through the Governor’s futile efforts at retaining the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial ticket in Lagos state to achieve his re-election ambition this year Oba Akiolu was nowhere to be found.

“In fact, the Oba was forced to travel out of the country to stay away from all the drama and controversy decorating Ambode’s ill-fated move at re-election” societynow.ng learned.

Societynow.ng learned Oba Akiolu was forced to adopt the stance due to an unbecoming incident that befell him.

Sources disclosed that the incident had Oba Akiolu, Ambode, and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as major players.

“But Ambode was the chief culprit” a source claimed.

According to a source “let’s just say what shouldn’t happen befell Oba Akiolu and his staff of office in an effort to make peace between Ambode and Tinubu and the Oba quietly slipped to London to avoid the backlash” societynow.ng learned.

The development is said to have forced Oba of Lagos to put a distance between self and the Lagos Governor.
