Societynowng.com further learnt Governor Mimiko specifically informed the gathering made of commissioners, special advisers and party leaders that politics has transcend imposition of candidates, that it is better for a popular candidate to emerge and be supported with all the might of the party.

Findings by societynowng.com however revealed that the real reason lays in the governor’s caution in staking all his goodwill for the benefit of an individual with the possibility of turning against him.

According to a source privy to the inner workings of the state chief executive officer close knit team, the governor analysed that to endorse an aspirant means imposing such a person as a candidate and automatically fighting all required battles and wars till the desired objective is achieved..and if for one reason or the other the installed governor turns on the backer, what happens?

‘The governor cited different cases abound of protege governors turning against their mentors who are in most cases powerless without state instrument to call on, and he so opts for the safer bet of backing any candidate presented by the party..naturally he would lean towards somewhere, but not to the point of public endorsement and imposition’ a source provided insight.

Further digs revealed that Governor Mimiko’s stance lays in his ambition for the future.

”His plans for the future requires him to retain a great amount of his goodwill and influences..he can’t afford to expend them on what has now become a risky venture of fighting tooth and nail to install a governor that might turn any moment, especially now that his party is in opposition’ another source divulged.

Societynowng.com learnt the outgoing governor sees himself playing a huge role in the revamping of his party at the National level as well as harmonisation of regional politics, hence the move to retain as much of his goodwill and influences while overseeing a successful transition of power in the state- with his party still firmly in control.
