Workers in Ogun State have accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of dodging negotiations with labor leaders as the 14days ultimatum given the state government winds down.

‘’The ultimatum ends on Tuesday (September 15, 2020)’’ societynow.ng learned.

The revelations made by Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, the leader of the workers’ agitations have it Governor Abiodun has refused to meet with labor leaders.

‘’We have written for meetings with the Governor and gone to his office several times before and after we issued the ultimatum but they always tell us he is not available. How do you negotiate with somebody you don’t see’’ Comdrade Bankola stated at different fora, including features on Radio Stations.

The labor leader, however, admitted that ‘’The governor sends emissaries who keep saying they will get back after every meeting, it is obvious that without the Governor at the meeting nothing can be done and he has chosen to be unavailable for meetings’’

Societynow.ng gathered that twenty- four hours (24hrs) to the deadline of the ultimatum the state workers in Ogun state workers are pushing for a strike but labor leaders believe that Governor Abiodun would make a last-minute overture to avert it.

‘’The leaders believe Governor Abiodun doesn’t want to be seen as succumbing too easily to threats of a strike hence his seemingly unshaken stance sending emissaries to negotiation meetings all these days’’ societynow.ng gathered.

Insiders, however, disclosed that should the Governor fail to make a last-minute effort to stop the impending strike, the labor leaders would issue a notice to workers to go on a warning strike before commencing on a full-blown industrial action.
