Osogbo, Osun State – Former Minister of Interior and ex-Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has reaffirmed the independence of his political movement, Omoluabi Progressives, stating emphatically that the group is not aligned with any existing political party in its quest to reclaim governance in the state.
Aregbesola made this known in a heartfelt appreciation message to guests who attended the celebration of his 68th birthday, held at the De-Distinguished Events Centre, Iwo/Ibadan Road, Osogbo. The occasion, which followed morning prayers at his country home, drew political allies, traditional rulers, and supporters from across the country.

Thanking attendees for honoring him and the Omoluabi Progressives family with their presence, Aregbesola used the opportunity to reflect on the vision and values guiding his political tendency. “By this time next year, we will be looking forward to returning to Abeere,” he said, referring to the seat of the Osun State Government. “Let me repeat once more, we are not working for or in any alliance with any existing political party for this objective. We are focused on our resolve to reclaim the government of Osun, In Shaa Allah.”
Aregbesola described the gathering as a symbol of unity and renewed commitment to the ideals of progressivism. “Our tendency is deeply rooted in the true tenets of progressivism,” he stated, “as we are guided by a common interest to reclaim our dear state in the interest of good governance and mass prosperity.”

The former governor also used the occasion to speak passionately about the value of motherhood, which he described as a priceless foundation for a purposeful life and a viable nation. “Motherhood gives strength, hope, and courage to face life’s challenges,” he said. “It deserves special attention and deliberate policies of support and empowerment.”
Among those celebrated for gracing the event were the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II (represented), Governor Ademola Adeleke (represented by Commissioner Dr. Biyi Odunlade), former Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly Dr. Najeem Salaam, Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives Alhaji Azeez Adesiji, and a host of other political and community leaders.

“I cannot thank those who joined us enough,” Aregbesola said in closing. “Your presence added splendour to the occasion, and I remain deeply grateful.”
As Osun State edges closer to another crucial election season, Aregbesola’s message served both as a note of gratitude and a firm restatement of his group’s political direction—independent, progressive, and determined to return to leadership through grassroots mobilization and principled vision.
