“We Are Not Aware” Family Dispel News Of Release Of Abducted Monarch, Goriola Oseni

The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on Friday discharged Kuburat, wife of abducted Oniba of Iba, Oba Goriola Oseni, who was shot by gunmen.

The gunmen, said to have been about 16 in number, abducted the monarch on Saturday, July 16, around 8pm, and had thereafter reached out to the family to demand N500m ransom.

This is just as the family of the monarch debunked an online news report claiming that the monarch had been released.
The report said that the Oniba was released after the family paid a ransom of N14m.
But the monarch’s son, Saheed Oseni, said there was no truth in the claim.

Oseni, however, confirmed that the wife of the monarch had been discharged from the hospital and had returned home safely.

He said, “We are not aware of that (his release by his abductors). I am in the palace now. We hope that his abductors will release him to us. We want to see him.”

The Lagos police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, said, “The command is still working on his safe return. At the right time, I will give you information.”
