Viral Jogging Video: Angela Okorie’s Police Escorts Under Probe, Says NPF

The Nigeria Police Force has expressed strong disapproval over a viral video showing armed officers trailing Nollywood actress Angela Okorie as she jogged, an incident the Force described as inconsistent with the standards and professional conduct expected of its personnel.

In a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police noted that while it remains unclear whether the incident occurred during a movie shoot or was part of a scripted production, the visible conduct of the officers in the video fell short of expectations.

“The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged—an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force,” the statement read in part.

The video, which has attracted widespread public criticism and concern, captured a group of armed policemen following Okorie in close proximity as she jogged in a casual setting.

In response, the Force said it has commenced internal administrative procedures to identify the officers involved and uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review,” Adejobi said.

He added that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to maintaining professionalism, discipline, and the trust of the public.
