The chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Kehinde Adeola Oloyede, has received recognition from the Federal Government for the continued impact of his administration.

The Federal Government, through the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), has awarded him the title of “Digital Local Government Chairman of the Year.”
The local government chairman, popularly known as Kendo, was informed of this development in an October 3, 2024 letter addressed to his office, signed by a Director in the Lagos Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, according to information released by his media aides.
The letter from the BPSR, forwarded to the Local Government by the Lagos State Ministry, states in part: “…we are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to receive the prestigious Nigeria GovTech Public Service Award in the category of ‘Digital Local Government Chairman of the Year.’”

The honor, according to information provided by the media office of the local government chairman, is in recognition of his administration’s ability to digitally showcase its various achievements and for consistently keeping residents informed of its activities through a strong media presence.
“These updates,” according to the Bureau, “promote transparency, critical assessment, and accountability, thereby advancing good governance in the council area and in Nigeria at large.”

It has been noted that Oloyede, whose supporters are advocating for a second term, has significantly improved local infrastructure since taking office.
An established property developer before assuming the chairmanship, his administration is credited with massive developments, including the construction and rehabilitation of access roads, drainage systems, and public facilities.
With an intentional approach to governance described as unprecedented in the local government, Kendo is also said to be changing lives through youth empowerment and job creation, such as vocational training—including free summer tech training—and startup grants for entrepreneurs across party lines.

His administration’s improved health services, which cater to vulnerable persons through free programs and ensure adequate medical supplies at new and renovated health centers, are also notable. The council boss is said to engage directly with the community through town hall meetings and forums, where he receives feedback to inform his projects.
The presentation of the award, recognizing Oloyede’s impact in Oshodi-Isolo, by the Federal Government will take place at the end of the 2-day Nigeria GovTech Conference, scheduled for October 10 to 11, 2024, at NICON Hotel, Abuja.

The chairman, whose contributions to education include rehabilitating public schools, providing free transportation for students, distributing educational materials to the needy, and offering scholarships to the underprivileged, reportedly wrote to the BPSR, expressing gratitude for the objective assessment of his administration and pledging to continue working to improve the lives of citizens.
