‘’she secured it, because she said that is where we would all move to as a family …’’ he started his response but i broke in.
‘’’like some sort of terms she gave you?’’ i asked.
‘’exactly’’ he affirmed and continued ‘’she now said i should go and meet the father and immediately i gave her the cheque for the rent i had to travel to see my mum because she wasn’t feeling fine and i had to quickly travel and on coming back, i came on Sunday night and on Monday morning i went to see the father…
‘’You didn’t go to work?’’ i asked
‘’No i still had like two or three days of the leave i took and i went to the father’s house very early in the morning around 5.am, i was the one that woke him up and i got there, one thing i noticed at first was that her car wasn’t there and i said fine..maybe she went out or something and i knocked the gate and the father came out and opened the gate and we went inside.
‘’and i thanked him very much and i said sir well, Ivie and i have agreed that we would move to our place, a new place in Yaba and i want to use this opportunity to thank you for everything you have done for my children, for keeping them and for my wife and when i have finished talking he said well, he had actually told Ivie to tell me i must come with my family members before he can actually release them and i said haha, i am the husband of this woman, why do i need to come with my family members …if i am your son wont you discuss with me on this matter? Why do i have to come with my family members?
‘’And at this time, Ivie was already pregnant..because she took in ..’’
‘’How many months was she gone at that time?’’ i asked
‘’Almost four months’’ he replied after a slight pause and continued ‘’i have a picture that i can show you’’ he stated and pulled a picture from his mobile phone.
The picture was shown round and he stumbled on another picture of a man on a hospital bed with burnt skin
‘’this is the photo of the father on hospital bed, this was before the fight…i went with her to visit the father in the hospital when he suffered fire burns..he was burnt by fire and in fact we left from my house that Sunday morning to go and see the father in the hospital and she said we don’t see, that since she was with the father we haven’t been seeing!’’ he exclaimed.
‘’when was this?’’ i asked.
‘’this was December 2015, that was when this thing happened and we went to Tokin hospital to visis him’’ he replied.
‘’the place is like a family hospital for them?’’ i asked
‘’To them, yes’’ he affirmed
‘’But when you initially agreed with your wife to move back to her parent’s house, did you speak with the father?’’ i asked.
‘’No’’ he disclosed and added ‘’it was an agreement between myself and Ivie at that time’’
‘’so you never spoke with the father concerning the arrangement?’’ i asked again
‘’No’’ he stated again.
‘’In the course of her visiting you, staying you with did you have any cause to discuss the matter with the father?’’ i asked
‘’Yes i did…twice’’ he revealed
‘’what was his reaction?’’ i asked
‘’his reaction was that i must come with my family members, that has always been his reaction and i told him..there is no point in…’’ but i cut into his response

‘’yes’’ he confirmed and paused after spotting another picture on his phone ‘’this another time we went out with the kids and she keeps saying we didn’t see when she was with her father’’
‘’So, when you got the father’s house that early morning and what eventually happened?
A slight pause as he gathered his thoughts and he continued ‘’ Before i came to the father’s house that morning, Ivie and i had agreed to meet…so i asked the father where is Ivie and he told, well he has to tell me Ivie has gone to rent a house in Surulere and i said but Ivie and i just rented a house in Yaba..what would she be renting a house in Surulere for and i said where is she, he said Surulere and i said, when did this happen..he said Yesterday..and i started calling Ivie and she didn’t answer and i sent a message and she didn’t reply until i got to Ajah and i said, okay send me the address which she did..i now turned bank and went to the address she gave and i got there and said, Ivie what are you doing here..we just rented an apartment in Yaba for us to be together, so why are you here
‘’and she said, since her stomach is shooting out, she doesn’t want a situation where the father keeps embarrassing her, because he was already embarrassing her..that she wants to hide the stomach from the father and i said but it is not good enough, that what is wrong with you being pregnant ? why not tell your father that you are pregnant for me, is he your husband or me? She now said the agent who go her the place is willing to take it up that, we should let the children finish the term and we all move to Yaba and i told her this your story is becoming something else and i left her and move back to Ajah to start packing my things
‘’she was the one that brought bus to help me move my load from Ajah to the new place at Yaba, all the people that did the movement..she was the one that supervised them
