Emboldened by the win in the September 19 Edo gubernatorial election, insiders disclosed that strategists of the People’s Democratic Party are hard at work in Ondo state.

Societynow.ng gathered that they are working on a grand conspiracy meant to stop the re-election of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the October 10, 2020, Ondo state gubernatorial election.

Insiders disclosed that for the plan to plan to work, the PDP strategists are working on making the gubernatorial contest a clear fight between its candidate Eyitayo Jegede and that of the APC, Akeredolu – like it was in the Edo governorship election.

Sources disclosed that to achieve this, PDP and its agents are hard at work trying to get the deputy Governor of Ondo State Agboola Ajayi to work for Jegede.

Ajayi is the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, the political party with former PDP chieftain Olusegun Mimiko as the chief promoter.

Sources disclosed that ‘’worthwhile’’ incentives to work with the PDP as been thrown at Ajayi.

Ajayi who dumped the PDP – after cross carpeting from the APC – over the inability to get the party’s gubernatorial ticket to become the candidate of the ZLP is reportedly standing firm in seeing through is ambition at press time.

Societynow.ng gathered that PDP strategists believe that the support of Ajayi would prove vital in the October 10 Ondo gubernatorial election.

Ajayi is widely seen as a grassroots politician in Ondo state.

Many see the failure of Governor Akeredolu to orchestrate his removal as deputy governor after he defected from the APC as a testimony of Ajayi’s political strength.
