In furtherance of his vision to deepen civil-military relations and foster inter-agency synergy, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, was represented by the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Mobility Command, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, during strategic visits to key stakeholders in the South-South region.

The engagements commenced with a courtesy call on the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters in Calabar, where AVM Aneke was warmly received by the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral KC Ezete.

Discussions centred on strengthening joint operations, logistics, and regional security, with emphasis on safeguarding coastal areas and critical infrastructure across the Niger Delta.

The AOC paid courtesy visits to the Government Houses of Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. At Government House, Calabar, he was received by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, who commended the Armed Forces for their role in maintaining peace and pledged the state’s continued support.

In Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno lauded the NAF for its role in securing lives and properties, particularly along the waterways, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to collaboration with the military for the safety of citizens.

These visits reflect the CAS’s proactive approach to consolidating relationships with civil authorities to ensure enduring peace and stability across the South-South.

Reiterating his vision, the Chief of the Air Staff stated, “Respect for civil authorities and synergy with sister services are indispensable to the effective projection of airpower. Our responsibility goes beyond defending the skies; it is about working hand-in-hand with government and security stakeholders to safeguard the lives and properties of Nigerians.”

The visits not only reinforced inter-agency cooperation but also highlighted the Nigerian Air Force’s resolve under the leadership of the CAS to strengthen operational effectiveness, deepen civil-military trust, and promote national security.
