Senate Rejects Ban On Importation Of Cars Through Land Border As It Calls On Customs To Immediately Suspend Implementation Of Policy

The Nigerian Senate has rejected the federal government ban on importation of cars through land borders.

And at sitting led by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu today – Wednesday, January 11 2016 – called on the Nigeria Customs Service to immediately suspend implementation of policy.

The ban came into effect on Sunday January 01 2016.

During deliberation on the development today, Senators took turn to condemn and call for a reversal due to economic reasons.In the Senate in adopting it’s position maintain the policy which has resulted in over 500,000 jobs is anti poor.
