The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a delegation from the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) paid visits to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 18, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi, described the claims as false and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and sow discord in the state.

According to Chukwudi, there was no such visit by PANDEF or Obasanjo, and the reports were merely the work of those seeking to cause unrest and hinder the progress of the current administration. He reaffirmed Governor Fubara’s commitment to implementing the Supreme Court’s judgment on the state’s political crisis but noted that the Rivers State House of Assembly had not cooperated in facilitating its resolution.

“The Governor has made it clear that he will fully comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling. He has initiated the necessary processes to ensure the orders are implemented, but the House of Assembly has refused to cooperate,” the statement read.

Chukwudi urged the public to disregard the false reports and assured that Governor Fubara remains focused on ensuring peace, good governance, and sustainable development in Rivers State.
