In a notice to applicants, the embassy said the decision was taken “due to the potential for protests in Abuja.”

The diplomatic mission stated that “all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026” have been cancelled, adding that affected applicants “will be contacted with information on how to reschedule.”

The embassy advised the public to “monitor our website and social media channels for further updates.”

For emergency assistance, it asked individuals to “contact the U.S. Embassy at listed phone numbers, adding “thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
