Political observers in Ondo state insist the ‘’political pact’’ that saw outgoing Governor Olusegun Mimiko and anointed successor, Eyitayo Jegede refuse to challenge the result of the gubernatorial election that gave victory to Rotimi Akeredolu, the candidate of the opposition party is collapsing.

Akeredolu, the incoming Governor of Ondo state is a member of the All Progressives Congress.

While Mimiko and Jegede are chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party.

Contrary to directive from the national body of their party, the outgoing governor and his protégé refused to contest the

result of the election that gave victory to Akeredolu despite initial allegations of electoral malpractices and widespread irregularities.

The incoming Governor on his own pledged to shy away from needless investigation of the regime of the outgoing governor.

The state appeared set for a hitch free transition between two rival parties – until recently.

The leadership tussle that resulted in the closure of the state house of assembly and made governor Mimiko unable to present the 2017 budget is said to be soaked in intrigues shredding the ‘’political pact’’.

Those who should known claimed the ‘’crisis’’ which resulted in attack of the outgoing governor’s convoy is all about the incoming and outgoing regime safe guarding their interests.
A source provided deep insight ‘’it is all about power play..the new people are trying to put their team in place to stop any last minute trick by Mimiko and his crew…they got some people from the other side to buy into their dream but the execution of their agenda didn’t go as planned and resulted in wranglings that closed the Assembly…it was a bit of gain for them, atleast with the assembly shut down everything gets to stand still until the new government comes in , they achieved their aim somehow
‘’Mimiko got attacked because he failed to realise the extent they would go to stop his perceived antics’’

The Governor’s convoy was way laid yesterday – Thursday, February 2 2016 – over allegations of attempting to smuggle in 38 bills which will be passed into law before the end of his term of Thursday February 23, during the 2017 budget presentation.

Sources claimed it took intervention of security operatives for Governor Mimiko’s convoy to escape the protesters with smashed side screens of two vehicles in his convoy.

Insiders this developments has greatly tainted the ‘’pact’’ between the two sides with silent allegations of ‘’betrayal’’ and ‘’treachery’’ reigning.

Though the outgoing governor is said to be at a disadvantage in the emerging scenario with his reign winding down, observers however insists that doesn’t guarantee he would end up on the losing side of the emerging ‘’political fight’’
