Osun Guber: Omisore Is First Aspirant To Be Screened By APC, Shares Experience
said the session offered him an opportunity to reflect
Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, on Tuesday said he was the first aspirant to appear before the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Screening Committee ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Omisore, who shared the update on his social media pages, said the session offered him an opportunity to reflect on his long journey within Nigeria’s progressive political movement — from the days of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the present APC.
He noted that his evolution through the ranks of the party, including serving as a former Senator of the Federal Republic and immediate past National Secretary of the APC, has equipped him with the experience and capacity required to lead Osun at what he described as “a critical time.”
According to the former Senator, leadership should be grounded in experience, commitment and a clear understanding of governance rather than slogans or showmanship — a distinction he said is crucial as the state looks ahead to a new chapter.
The popular name criticised the current administration under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying Osun requires focused leadership, responsible governance and a coherent roadmap to reverse what he called ongoing failures.
“My aspiration remains anchored on rescuing Osun and restoring confidence in government,” he said, expressing gratitude to party leaders and members for their continued support as the race gathers momentum.
