Eniola Ajayi
Remi Ishola better known as Remi Morgan has started putting out his truth about how Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Adewale Akanbi became the Oluwo of Iwo.
Morgan started a series titled “THE TRUTH – Re: OLUWO OF IWO LAND.” which seek to address all the issues revolving around Oba Akanbi based on an insider’s account.
The socialite who was there at the very beginning of Oba Akanbi’s journey to the throne narrates.
Bismillah – in the name of God.
My name is Remmy Morgan also known as Alhaji Morgan or Mr Morgan. I’m a native of Iwo.

Well, it has taken me this long to open up publicly on the issues of Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRosheed Adewale Akanbi.
Oluwo was Two years my senior in our high school in Ibadan. We lost contact after high school as I had left to study in England straight off from high school but we got back together some few years ago pre-2013.
In the course of our regular conversation one day, I broke the news of the passing of the then Oluwo, Oba Olatunbosun Tadese.
We got talking on which Ruling House is the next in line to produce the next king.
Prince Adewale Akanbi was really excited and seemed interested in the buildups of The Obaship tussle.
In the conversation, I told him I would be traveling to Iwo and would let Him know the situations.
Prince Wale Akanbi called me the following day asking me what’s the latest and that He would love to come back to Nigeria and see what we can do together regarding this Obaship issue. And that He has not been to Nigeria in a few years and did not have a place to stay in Nigeria nor a car to drive. To this, I voluntarily told Him he could stay either in my place in Ibadan or at my place in Lagos and that He could have one of my cars when He arrived.
Fast forward, He did arrive in Nigeria and we started the whole process of going around introducing Prince Wale Akanbi to most of my contacts in Nigeria, whom I thought could be able to assist us in the process.
I had voluntarily broken the family rule, my Dad was in support of His own friend becoming the Oluwo of Iwo, this my Dad’s friend happens to be one of the richest men in my town, Iwo. He’s been on this Obaship tussle since the demise of Oba Samuel Omotosho Abimbola in 1982. I went against my Dad’s candidate and pledged my full support for my friend, Prince Wale Akanbi, based on what the elders in Iwo had told me about the history surrounding the Oluwo stool, that, the next rightful ruling house to produce the next Ọba is GBAASẸ which my friend hails from.

Few months after his arrival, then Prince Wale Akanbi asked me if he could bring his wife, Asabe, and his Two sons, Zane and Zadane to live together with him in my house,. I agreed to this.
After some weeks, his family arrived and the kids started schooling in my neighborhood in Ibadan.
We did all the running around and met many people that are too numerous to mention, and by the grace of Almighty Allah, he eventually got appointed as Oluwo-elect on Sunday, 8th November, 2015 at around 11pm.
I was not able to attend the event of his turbaning on the 9th November 2015 as I had lost someone a night before the event and had to be in Lagos in preparation for the burial the following morning in Ijebu Mushin according to Islamic rite.
My time constraint had made me arranged with few of my friends in Ibadan, Osogbo and Lagos to meet up with Oluwo-elect early in the morning of the program.
On the same Sunday evening, I had spoken to Alh Lekan Badmus in Osogbo and I had directed Oba-elect Wale Akanbi to go meet up with him as I had asked Alh Lekan Badmus to take him to his dad who provided Oluwo-elect with the turban to be used the following day for the ceremony, he equally made available to him, a substantial sum of money.
He was turbaned on the 9th November, 2015 as the Oluwo of Iwo and it was a very successful reception he got on arrival in Iwo that very morning from Osogbo. The newly elected Oonirisa of Ife was very supportive all through and before the ascension to the throne.
Early in the morning of Oluwo’s turbaning, Oonirisa had sent forth a Lexus Jeep LX570 with police escort and a huge sum of money to support us. Meanwhile, I forgot to say earlier that, we all grew up in Ibadan as kids, we’ve all been friends from our younger days.
Oluwo went into seclusion same day after been turbaned and this is where it all started from……..
