Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji Not The Alaafin or Alake Says He Is Making Moves To Settle Ooni and Oba Of Lagos Celebrated Rift

Emerging details have it Ibadan monarch, Oba Saliu Adetunji – the Olubadan has disclosed moves to settle rift that resulted in Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu publicly snubbing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The development which has earned Oba Akiolu huge public condemnation transpired at a Bankers’ event in Lagos.

Ironically according to ranking the Ooni’s stool is far superior to the Lagos Monarch.

And as public outcry rage, a traditional ruler of lesser rank has also indicated intention to settle the rift which sparked of the public show of disrespect by Oba Akiolu.

While senior traditional rulers such as the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and the Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo maintain low profile posture on the matter in public, Olubandan Adetunji has come to say he has waded into the much publicise development to effect a reconciliation.

This is even as Ooni Ogunwusi insists he retains respect for the Lagos Monarch as an “Oba”.

Olubadan made his move known in a chat with national publication, punch through his Director, Media and Public Affairs, Adeola Oloko,

Oloko told punch “I can tell you that the Olubadan had been making contacts with the Ooni and the Oba of Lagos, whom he respects mostly, with the view to mediating in the issue. He will talk to the press as soon as there is information to pass across. As an elder, he is making the contact,” said Oloko.

Though he occupies the most respected stool, Ooni Ogunwusi is the youngest in age. While Olubadan though occupier of a lesser throne is the eldest of the three Obas in age.
