Not A Firearm — Pastor Adefarasin on Pointing Gun In Viral Video
that appeared to show him brandishing a firearm
Popular Lagos-based pastor Paul Adefarasin has addressed concerns surrounding a recent viral video that appeared to show him brandishing a firearm.
The cleric, known for his inspirational teachings and leadership at House On The Rock Church, clarified that the object in question was not a firearm, and at no time did he point any weapon at anyone.
In a statement released to his congregation on Saturday, Pastor Adefarasin reassured his followers that the circulating footage had been misunderstood and misinterpreted. “You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” he wrote. “I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
He acknowledged the concerns the footage may have caused among his followers and the public. “We understand the concern that this accusation may have caused,” he continued, adding that the matter would be briefly addressed during the 9:00 am service on Sunday.
Pastor Adefarasin concluded his message with gratitude for the patience and understanding of his supporters. “Thank you for your patience and understanding,” he wrote.
As the controversy unfolds, the church leadership and congregation await further clarifications during Sunday’s service, where Pastor Adefarasin is expected to shed more light on the incident and reassure his community.
