No Going Back On Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s Step Down As RCCG’s National Overseer Despite Suspension Of Rule That Forced Him Out
Emerging details have it, there is no going back on decision by Pastor Enoch Adeboye as the National Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
This is even after government suspends the rule that forced him out.
A corporate governance code by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria has stipulated leaders of all religious organisations that have spent two years on the saddle should step down.
The implementation has forced Adeboye to appoint new man Obayemi as National Overseer.
But the widely celebrated church head remains general overseer of all other branches of the ministry in all other countries.
Outcry over the step down of Adeboye in certain quarters had forced a drastic reaction from the government.
President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered a sack of the head of agency incharge of the governance code – Jim Obaze along with some of lieutenants.
The controversial code was immediately suspended.
But information coming out of Redeemed Christian Church of God reveals, Pastor Adeboye would stick to his pronouncement, irrespective of governments move to make amends.
Religious leaders based on their strong hold on faithfuls are major stakeholders in government affairs.
