NNPCL Alleges Coordinated Sabotage To Undermine Leadership, Reform Efforts
allegedly designed to discredit its leadership and derail
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has raised alarm over what it describes as an “emerging coordinated sabotage campaign” allegedly designed to discredit its leadership and derail the company’s ongoing transformation.
In a public notice issued on Friday, the company said it had uncovered a syndicate—comprising both internal and external actors—behind the efforts to spread lies and misinformation about its operations.
The group, it claimed, is bent on undermining the reforms being carried out under the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“These are calculated efforts by those who feel threatened by reform, transparency, accountability, and change—clear evidence of the lengths to which they will go to obstruct the transformation of Nigeria’s foremost energy institution,” the statement read.
NNPC Ltd. further alleged that the campaign involves the deliberate planting of scandalous and fabricated reports aimed at distracting its leadership, misleading the public, and weakening the morale of its workforce.
While not naming specific individuals or organisations behind the alleged plot, the company said it anticipates a rise in defamatory content in the coming days and weeks. Despite this, it vowed to remain undeterred.
“NNPC Ltd. remains on mission,” the company said. “The transformation is underway, and no amount of sabotage will stop it.”
The management urged its staff, stakeholders, and patriotic Nigerians to remain focused and ignore distractions, reaffirming its commitment to becoming a corruption-free, performance-driven national energy champion.
