MTN Y’ello Care Supports Igbede-Ojo With Business Grants
brought together market women and other members of the rural community
As part of its 2025 Y’ello Care campaign, MTN Nigeria on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, conducted a significant community outreach in the Igbede-Ojo area of Lagos, aimed at promoting financial empowerment and advancing digital inclusion.
The initiative, themed “Tuesday MoMo Market Storm,” brought together market women and other members of the rural community for a transformative day of learning, support, and economic upliftment.
Participants were provided with free MTN SIM cards and assisted in opening MoMo accounts.
In addition, they were taken through a structured financial literacy and inclusion training, which covered key topics such as personal finance management, savings, and investment practices.

The training was designed to equip the participants with practical knowledge to improve their financial well-being and facilitate access to digital financial services.
To further support small business development in the community, MTN Y’ello Care identified and rewarded six participants from Igbede-Ojo who had demonstrated a strong interest in starting Point-of-Sale (PoS) businesses. These individuals completed the training, had MoMo accounts funded with a minimum of ₦50,000, and were each awarded an additional ₦100,000 to launch or grow their businesses.
Speaking at the event, Omolara Michael-Nwadu, Chief Financial Officer of MoMo PSB, emphasised the importance of community-led financial inclusion. “At MoMo PSB, we believe that true inclusion begins with access, access to knowledge, tools, and opportunity.
Through initiatives like the MoMo Market Storm, we are bridging the financial gap for underserved communities and equipping them with the confidence and capacity to take charge of their economic future. This is how we drive sustainable impact, one empowered individual at a time.”

This initiative reflects MTN’s commitment to empowering underserved communities by providing tools and opportunities that foster financial independence and digital inclusion.
The Tuesday MoMo Market Storm marks a significant milestone in MTN’s broader Y’ello Care campaign for 2025, which is themed “Connecting at the Roots: Digital Tools for Connected Communities.”
Elsewhere that day, Y’ello Care facilitated a hands-on learning session and Artificial Intelligence (AI) training at the Bayobab Cable Landing Station in Abraham Adesanya, Ajah. Participants received an exclusive look into how subsea cables enable global connectivity and digital infrastructure, while also exploring the fundamentals of AI and its relevance to the future of work. A technical expert led the session, emphasising the need for more young Nigerians to understand the systems that power the digital economy.
