It goes without saying that the emergence Honeywell Group limited has the largest shareholder by volume in FBN Holdings is living to all the trappings of the deal of the year.

And it has been tagged some quarters.

The biggest single transaction in stock so far in 2023, saw Honeywell Group acquire all of 4,770,269,843 additional shares in FBN Holdings  – the parent company of Nigeria’s oldest bank, First Bank- with its stake swinging to 15.1%.

The transaction valued beyond N105Billion soared FBN Holdings stock to its highest value in the last 52 weeks SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The surge in value that became apparent on Monday, July 10 was in response to the execution of negotiated deals perfected on July 6, 2023 throwing up Honeywell Group as the largest shareholder at FBN Holdings.

The negotiated deals were carried out by investment vehicle – and affiliate to Honeywell Group – Barbican Capital Limited.

And that is where the fingerprints of the “wonder woman”  in the deal of the year, Foluke Oyeleye were etched on the talk of the town.

The holder of first degree Combined Social Science and Masters in Business Administration is a co-owner of the talk-of-the-town Barbican Capital Limited along with the Managing Director at Honeywell Group, Obafemi Otudeko.

SocietyNow.Ng’s finding revealed that the alumnus of Harvard University, United States of America with over 25 years experience in telecoms, financial and FMGS (fast moving consumer goods sector) under her belt played a strategic behind the scene role in the deal that has made FBN Holdings the cynosure of all eyes.

The deal will among other high- value-worth, see FBN Holdings operations boosted by over 150-years combined experience in various professional qualifications and specialties possessed by the team headed by Obafemi Otudeko.

Otudeko as the Managing Director of the conglomerate with diversified interests in food and agriculture, telecommunication and infrastructure, real estate and financial services provides strategic direction and oversight on Honeywell Group’s portfolio companies and investments.

Added checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that Oyeleye is equally a part of process that has transformed Honeywell Group a rooted part of the admirable performances of Airtel Nigeria, Fan Milk Nigeria Plc, and Honeywell Flour Mills Plc – one of Nigeria’s leading food producing companies as a Director.

“She is wearing two very impressive hats as a part of two companies making waves in and beyond investors community, a worthy representative of her gender” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

According to those who should know, Oyeleye’s life roles do not stop at being a co-owner of Barbican Capital Limited and Director at Honeywell Group.

“She runs a mentorship programme and is also an author with a publishing company to her name” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

The publishing company known as Tani Series was “founded in 2020 to publish books and other reading materials that will contribute to and celebrate Nigeria’s rich cultural landscape, history and people” according an interview she granted Punch in April 2022.

The transaction dubbed the deal of the year will see the international and gender-balanced Honeywell Group team led by Otudeko work “closely with stakeholders (of FBN Holdings) with a shared vision to foster the creation and enhancement of value for all” as disclosed in  a letter written by the Managing Director to the chairman of FBN Holdings,  Alhaji Ahmad Abdullahi.
