LASAA Probes Staff Use Of Private Account For Official Payments
receiving payments from customers through a personal bank account
The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) says it has commenced an investigation into allegations that one of its staff members engaged in improper transaction practices by receiving payments from customers through a personal bank account.
In a statement, the agency said it became aware of the allegation through a social media post and has taken immediate steps to address the issue. LASAA described the claim as serious and stressed that such conduct, if proven, would violate its financial and ethical procedures as well as the Lagos State Civil Service rules.
According to the agency, the affected staff has been identified and instructed to report to LASAA’s head office for investigation and disciplinary proceedings in line with public service regulations.
The agency said the directive came from Tokunbo Wahab, the commissioner for the environment and water resources, who oversees LASAA.
LASAA reiterated its commitment to transparency and ethical standards, noting that all payments for signage and advertisement services must be made through official government channels.
It also commended members of the public for their vigilance in bringing such matters to light and assured stakeholders that corrective measures would be taken to preserve public confidence in its operations.
The agency said updates would be provided as the investigation continues.
