Kwankwaso Tells Agenda In Talk-Of-Town Visit To Obasanjo Along With Donald Duke
“We are grateful to Baba for his warm support and hospitality,”
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the leader of the formidable northern group known as Kwankwasiyya, has revealed the agenda of his recent visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The founder of the group, often called the “Red Cap Revolution,” visited Obasanjo at his Abeokuta, Ogun State residence along with former Governor Donald Duke and other associates.
“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria, defined the conversation,” the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for the 2023 election that brought President Bola Tinubu to power disclosed.

Kwankwaso is in a fresh race to become the next President of Nigeria and has started high-level consultations.
The meeting with Obasanjo, the respected elder statesman with unrivaled influence abroad, is one of such engagements.
The talks with Obasanjo that saw Kwankwaso declare, “We are grateful to Baba for his warm support and hospitality,” have been attracting increasing reactions.

“Baba” is a Yoruba word that translates to “father” and is also used as a term of endearment for a valued older person.
Obasanjo, since he left power as Nigeria’s President (May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007), has unceasingly been the person those who want to replace an administration with a “better one” lobby to be in their corner. This includes the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) when it defeated the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.
Obasanjo, a founding member of the PDP, ruled Nigeria on the platform of the party and helped get the Goodluck Jonathan administration that the APC took power from into office.
