Ogun state indigenes, majorly the Ijebus and their friends and wells wishers- in large numbers- stormed the venue of the event to partake in the annual celebration decorated with tons of flamboyance and style.
The partakers defied the rain to soak in the excitements of the occasion.
And in the midst of all the merriment, even as it rains, chief host Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland forbid the use of umbrella and holding of brooms in the pavilion.
The announcement was ceaselessly made all through the event.
Societynow.ng gathered the reason was to prevent turning the socio-cultural event into a political war zone.
‘’the Broom is the symbol of ruling All Progressives Congress while the Umbrella is the symbol of its fierce opposition the People’s Democratic Party and it’s very clear a large percentage of those present are either members or supporters of the two political parties
‘’so you can imagine what would happen as they try to outdo one another if the party symbols are permitted to be used” source pointed out to societynow.ng.
An insider disclosed to societynow.ng that the Awujale had to adopt the measure to protect the yearly event from been seen and tagged a ‘’political event and the attendant consequence”.
