The camp of Iyiola Omisore has dismissed reports suggesting that a suit filed at the Federal High Court against the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still active, insisting that the case had long been discontinued following the intervention of party leaders.

In a statement issued by Isreal Ajibola Famurewa, director-general of the Rescue Mission Team, the group said none of the circulating press releases and reports about the alleged court action emanated from Omisore’s camp.

The statement said the attention of the team had been drawn to “various press releases and statements to a circulating report of the FHC case listing,” stressing that “none of such information emanated from us.”

Famurewa explained that the suit, marked FHC/OS/CS/261/2025 – Senator Iyiola Omisore v. APC & ANR, was originally filed after the disqualification of seven aspirants from a field of eight.

He said the action was intended to test the validity of the decision of the screening panel, which the team believed was inconsistent with the provisions of the Electoral Act.

According to the statement “the said suit titled FHC/OS/CS/261/2025 – Senator Iyiola Omisore v. APC & ANR, was at the wake of disqualification of seven aspirants out of eight originally. This was to further test the veracity of the verdict of the screening panel which we believed very well was in violation of electoral law 2022 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Famurewa, however, disclosed that the matter was dropped following the intervention of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bisi Akande, alongside other party leaders.

“However, upon the intervention of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and other well meaning leaders that led to Senator Omisore’s engagement of the media on a national television to follow the party’s decision and to honor Mr President,” he said.

According to the statement, Omisore subsequently declared his support publicly and withdrew the case.

“Furthermore to his support declaration on the national television the suit was discontinued and no one was served any court notice to date,” the statement added.

The Rescue Mission Team accused unnamed individuals of spreading misleading information about the case in order to cause tension within the party.

“It is not unusual to see jobbers and sycophants seized the opportunity to misrepresent the facts, created fears, panics and distrust amongst the members and indeed the masses,” the statement added.

Famurewa therefore called on party members and the public to disregard reports suggesting the case is ongoing.

“We therefore urge our party members, and the general public to disregard the purported suit, various misleading statements and releases and hoped for unity in the party ahead of the elections,” he said.
