Poster boy of his party’s sterling performance suddenly in the throes of multiple allegations, Ex Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fahola shy away from answering questions concerning reports of corruption allegations against and that he is undergoing investigation at a public event on Thursday September 3 2015.

The event was the 16th Bishop Okonkwo Annual lecture staged at the Shell Hall of Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos state and the former state chief executive was the guest speaker.

Fashola prodded on the recent barrage of corruption allegations against him during the question and answer session replied ‘ I don’t respond to allegations on the pages of newspapers’

Interestingly the adulated former public office holder had charged Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable in his lecture titled ‘The Nigerian political Class and the Citizen’s Quest for Good Governance’.

According to a source the former governor had charged Nigerians to always ensure they hold their leaders accountable

He asserted the populace have failed to achieve this.

But the former governor refused to answer a reporter from sun newspaper that heeded his urging and asked questions concerning the corruption allegations against him.

The former governor much celebrated for exemplary governance while in power became engulfed in allegations of corruption on the heels of intense talks of disagreement with political godfather, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

It is however instructive to note that prior to this latest twist the former governor had issued public statements on accusations against his person- except fresh reports that along with listed former governors he is undergoing investigation by anti corruption agency- Independent Corrupt Practices and related offences Commission ( ICPC).
