Heightened Interest As Aregbesola’s Group Plans Major Move Next Month
has intensified interest in Aregbesola, the group’s founder
Omoluabi Progressives, the popular political platform that has brought former Governor Rauf Aregbesola back to the forefront of Osun state politics, is reportedly planning a major move next month.
Rumors attribute this development to the group’s Chairman, Azeez Adesiji.
Sources indicate that the speculation stems from a statement credited to Adesiji and signed by Abosede Oluwaseun, the organizing and publicity secretary of the group.
“…in the next two months, the major political force in the state will declare its major move ahead of the next dispensation… efforts are in top gear to bring in key political players in the state,” the chairman reportedly stated.
This revelation has intensified interest in Aregbesola, the group’s founder and immediate past Minister of Interior.
This development follows the recent suspension of the former two-term governor by the Osun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aregbesola founded Omoluabi Progressives after he lost control of the APC in an intense power struggle with his successor, ex-Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Oyetola, backed by influential allies like former Senators Iyiola Omisore and Basiru Ajibola, eroded Aregbesola’s influence within the APC, leading to the suspension or outright expulsion of Aregbesola’s loyalists from the party.
The former Minister launched Omoluabi Progressives on August 22, 2023, and leveraged his strong grassroots following to turn it into a formidable political structure.
His efforts are bolstered by other grassroots mobilization experts, including former political officeholders like Moshood Adeoti, Najeem Salami, and others.
Aregbesola has refrained from responding to his suspension from the APC, with insiders describing this as a strategic decision to avoid “distractions”.
The former governor and his allies are reportedly focused on attracting more members to Omoluabi Progressives in anticipation of the group’s upcoming major move.
