The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has declared full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, endorsing his leadership and unveiling coordinated measures aimed at easing the cost-of-living pressures faced by Nigerians.

The endorsement followed a meeting of APC governors and stakeholders in Lagos, hosted by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state. Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo and chairman of the Forum, announced the outcome, saying the vote of confidence reflects the governors’ appreciation of Tinubu’s policies and their impact on national stability.

Uzodimma said the governors were aligned with the president’s reforms in economic management, security, and social investment, describing the Renewed Hope Agenda as a pathway to sustainable growth.

He added that the governors resolved to intensify interventions across key sectors to cushion the impact of inflation and economic adjustments on citizens.

Twelve APC governors attended the meeting, including Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, as well as governors from Kebbi, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna and Katsina.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the Forum said its members would scale up programmes in food production, youth employment, SME support and social protection, while aligning state policies with federal efforts to expand economic opportunities for households and businesses.

The governors acknowledged the resilience of Nigerians and said state governments would deepen coordination with security agencies to strengthen early-warning systems, intelligence sharing and community policing structures. They also reaffirmed commitments to grassroots development through transparent local governance and wider citizen engagement involving traditional leaders, civil society, labour groups, youth and women.

The Forum restated its loyalty to the APC and pledged support for efforts to strengthen internal democracy and party cohesion ahead of the next election cycle. Uzodimma urged party members across the country to take the achievements of the Tinubu administration to the grassroots as preparations for 2027 gather pace.

The governors expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, calling on citizens to remain calm, continue their daily activities without fear and support ongoing reforms aimed at improving national welfare. They extended early Christmas and New Year goodwill messages to Nigerians.
