Gov Sule Leads Vocational Skills Walk, Donates N12m To 600 “Catch Them Young” Beneficiaries
with the theme ‘One Family, One Technician’
In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting skill acquisition and economic empowerment, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, Governor of Nasarawa State, led Nigeria’s first-ever Vocational Skills Walk in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The inaugural Nasarawa Vocational Skills Day with the theme ‘One Family, One Technician’ kicked off with a symbolic march from the Federal Secretariat along Jos road to the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Technology Institute.
Following the walk, Governor Sule attended the graduation ceremony of over 600 children who participated in the ‘Catch Them Young’ Skills Acquisition Program, part of the maiden Nasarawa Vocational Skills Day celebrations.
The beneficiaries, drawn from across the state, were trained during the summer holidays in various fields including ICT, bakery, tailoring, cosmetology, and other vocational and technological skills.
Speaking at the event, Governor Sule emphasized his administration’s unwavering commitment to empowering citizens through vocational and technical education. He described skill acquisition as a cornerstone for reducing unemployment, boosting productivity, and positioning Nasarawa State as a hub of creativity and enterprise.
The Governor made a donation of Twelve Million Naira (₦12,000,000) to six hundred (600) children who participated in the ‘Catch Them Young’ Skill Acquisition Programme.
