Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service on Monday contained a fire incident at the office of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja.

The blaze, which was reported in a section of the Federal Secretariat complex earlier in the day, prompted an emergency response from fire officials after smoke was seen billowing from part of the building.

Authorities say the incident occurred in one section of the complex and emergency responders were quickly mobilised to prevent the flames from spreading.

In a statement, the Service confirmed that its personnel moved swiftly to tackle the situation.

“The Federal Fire Service has responded to a fire incident at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja. The situation has been brought under control by firefighters,” the statement said.

The agency urged calm among members of the public, noting that the situation had been effectively handled.
