Finally Obasa Speaks On Allegations Of Pocketing N258m For Inauguration Ceremony Two Months After Event

Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly has reacted to allegations of approving and pocketing N258.835.000 for an event two months after it held.
Obasa’s chief accuser, Saharareporters reported that the Speaker put up and got approval for N258.835.000 for the inauguration ceremony of the 9th Assembly two months after the event.
The Speaker in a statement by Chief Press Secretary Tolani Abati has disputed the claim.
In a statement that released yesterday night – Friday, May 15, 2020 – Obasa revealed that the total cost of the inauguration of the 9th Assembly in 2019 was N61.3M out of which N1.130.000 was spent on printing of invitation cards.
The statement has a document on the breakdown of the expenses of the approved fund attached.
The statement asserted signed by Abati asserted that ‘’ For the avoidance of doubt, the entire inauguration of the 9th Assembly can be summed into a total of N61.3 million as the document accompanying this response shows.
