Ewhrudjakpo: “Wear A Touch Of Black” – Bayelsa Govt To Workers, Residents In Mouring Dep Gov
as the state continues a three-day mourning period
The Bayelsa State Government has asked workers and residents to wear a touch of black as the state continues a three-day mourning period for the late Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the government said the mourning, which began earlier, will continue on Monday and end on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The government urged citizens, particularly civil servants and political appointees, to reflect the mood of the state by adding black to their attire while reporting for duty from Monday.
According to the statement, the directive is a mark of honour and a collective expression of grief over the loss of the deputy governor, who collapsed and died in his office last week.
The state government described Ewhrudjakpo as a committed public servant whose passing has left a deep void in Bayelsa’s political and administrative leadership, calling on residents to observe the mourning period with solemnity and respect.
It added that further details regarding official burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.
