Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has commissioned a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) complex in Kontagora.

The complex was built by the Kontagora local government council chairman, Alh. Shehu Pawa.

The farmer governor applauded the council chairman for constructing such an edifice for business purposes, saying it is a dividend of democracy.

He noted that the complex will bring about job creation, strengthening of existing businesses, and increased socio-economic activities in the area.

The farmer governor announced a donation of N50 million to the GSM Association as business support to its members while also revealing that the member representing Kontagora/Wushishi/Mariga/Mashegu Federal Constituency,  Abdullahi Idris Garba, will provide a vehicle for the association as logistical support.

The vice chairman of the GSM Association, Kontagora, Sanusi Umar, said the construction of the complex was timely considering that they have been carrying out their GSM businesses in Kontagora for a long time without a befitting structure.

He said the facility will greatly serve its members in Kontagora and appealed for a permanent structure for all the members of the association in the Niger North Senatorial District, as they have 9 units spread across the 8 local government areas in the senatorial district with over 13,000 members.

The association then presented an award of excellence to the farmer governor in recognition of his transformational leadership leading to socio-economic development in the state.

The farmer governor thereafter inspected the Kontagora bypass road and directed the immediate fixing of the damaged streetlights on the road.
