Despite Denials, Adeleke-APC Defection Claims Continue
who is eyeing a second term in office
Checks revealed that despite his outright denial, claims that the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, is about to join the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) have refused to die down.
Findings show that the rumours continue to trend, with top-ranking purveyors of the assertion within the APC doubling down on it.
Adeleke, who is eyeing a second term in office, explicitly stated over the weekend that a planned switch to the APC is not part of his strategy to retain his position.
The governor issued the denial amid intense speculation that a major part of the political negotiations for his defection would include an automatic APC gubernatorial ticket—effectively removing the key obstacle to his second-term bid.
The APC currently controls the federal government and a majority of the states.
Insiders confirmed that although PDP supporters have been amplifying Adeleke’s denial across political circles—insisting he remains a unifying force within the party—talks of a potential move to the APC before the gubernatorial election continue to dog the governor.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for November 2025.
