Customs Deepens Inter-agency Cooperation With Key Stakeholders

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone ‘A’ Headquarters in Lagos, has strengthened its partnership with key stakeholders following strategic engagements with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF).
According to a press release issued by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Akaninyene Edeminam, the meetings, held on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, formed part of efforts by the NCS to strengthen inter-agency collaboration for enhanced service delivery.
During a courtesy visit to the Zonal Coordinator, the NDLEA Assistant Commander-General of Narcotics in charge of Seaports Operations, Archie-Abia Ibinabo, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to her and her delegation.
She reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with Customs in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and related crimes.
“The NDLEA, as a federal agency charged with the enforcement of drug laws and the suppression of Narcotics trafficking and money laundering activities, remain committed to deepening collaboration and operational synergy with the Nigeria Customs Service to enhance national security and safeguard the nation’s borders”, she said.
On the same day, the Zonal Coordinator also received the President of NAGAFF, Tochuckwu Ezisi, alongside members of his management team.
Ezisi reiterated the association’s commitment to sustaining its long-standing partnership with the Service, adding that NAGAFF would continue to support initiatives that promote efficiency and transparency within the port system.
In his remarks, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Zone ‘A’, Mohammed Babandede, assured both delegations of the Service’s continued commitment to collaboration with sister agencies and stakeholders.
According to him, such engagements are critical to strengthening national security architecture while supporting seamless trade operations.
ACG Babandede added that Zone ‘A’ remains committed to fostering robust institutional partnerships aimed at improving border management and advancing trade facilitation in line with national objectives.
