Borno Media Professionals Inducted Into NISMA

In a significant milestone for the social media landscape in Nigeria, twelve media professionals from Borno state were officially inducted into the prestigious Nigeria Institute of Social Media Analysts, (NISMA).
The induction ceremony, which took place on Saturday, was the culmination of a comprehensive two-day Mandatory Educational Training and Development (METAD) workshop held at the Women Development Centre in Abuja.
The training focused on critical areas such as combating fake news, effective public relations, fact-checking, and navigating the dangers of information disorder.
The attendees were sponsored by influential figures, including the Senator representing Borno Central, the Executive Secretaries of BOGIS and BICTDA, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Energy, Transport, Works and Housing, and the Education Secretary of MMC, Among others.
DIG Frank Mba, the President of NISMA, presided over the induction ceremony and urged the new members to apply their newly acquired skills to effectively regulate social media and serve as responsible ambassadors of the institute.
The event was graced by a host of prominent dignitaries, including the Director Generals of NBC, NCC, NITDA, and NOA, as well as the Ministers of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, and Information and National Orientation. The Deputy Senate President and representatives from the DSS also attended the ceremony.
NISMA is a recognized professional and academic body, affiliated with the Association of International Social Media Analysts, and is endorsed by several national statutory institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Justice, Corporate Affairs Commission, National Broadcasting Commission, and the Ministry of Education.
