Away From Politics, Gov AbdulRazaq Grieves With Saraki Over Mother’s Demise

The Governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has put aside politics to grieve with former Senate President Bukola Saraki and his siblings over the death of Mrs Florence Morenike Saraki, the family’s matriarch.
Saraki also a former two-term Governor Kwara state announced the death of his mother on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
“With profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty God, I announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, who peacefully transitioned today, Tuesday, June 18th, 2024” wrote on social media and added that “details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we mourn Mama’s passing.”
Barely twenty-fours later, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq publicly identified with the Saraki’s over the loss.
“Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sends his condolences to the Sarakis on the death of their matriarch Chief (Mrs) Florence Morenike Saraki, which occurred on Tuesday, June 18” a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye stated.
The statement issued in the afternoon of Wednesday, June 19, 2024, added that “the Governor particularly commiserates with the former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Mr. Olaolu Saraki, and the rest of the family on the sad development.”
While urging “the Sarakis to be consoled by the fine legacies of their matriarch”, Governor AbdulRazaq in the statement also prayed “to God to repose the soul of Chief Mrs Florence Saraki and uphold the family after her death.”
The leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara state, AbdulRazaq masterminded the shockingly comprehensive victory of 2019 that completely took political powers from the formidable Saraki political family in Kwara state.
A grounded member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Saraki became Senate President during a stint with the APC – 2016 to 2019 – and returned to the PDP after his spell but has been unable to relive his political dominance in Kwara state.
