Akarigbo Makes Another Attempt To Reconcile Dapo Abiodun, Gbenga Daniel
broker peace among his subjects amid rising political hostilities in the state.
Remo Day 2025 in United Kingdom brought together some of Ogun state’s most prominent political figures as Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Gbenga Daniel, and opposition leader Ladi Adebutu attended the cultural gathering on Friday, August 29.

The event, which had Kabiyesi Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, in attendance, is being viewed as another move by the monarch to broker peace among his subjects amid rising political hostilities in the state.

Daniel, representing Ogun East in the senate, and Abiodun, the governor, are both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but have been locked in a public feud.

The rift deepened recently after Daniel was suspended from the APC over alleged anti-party activities and a dispute with the state government, which marked some of his properties, including his residence, for alleged violations.

Matters escalated when Emmanuel Ojo, Abiodun’s senior special adviser on social media, declared the governor as the “incoming senator representing Ogun East,” a seat currently occupied by Daniel who has already indicated interest in seeking re-election.

Adebutu, who leads the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun, has also had his share of political tussles with the governor. The monarch’s decision to bring the three politicians together at the Remo Day celebration is widely interpreted as part of efforts to douse tensions and foster reconciliation in Remoland.

All three figures trace their roots to Remo — Abiodun and Adebutu are from Iperu, while Daniel has his political base in Sagamu. The Akarigbo, who has consistently positioned himself as a peace broker, is believed to be intensifying his moves to secure a truce among the rivals in the interest of the stability of his domain.
