Fresh details have emerged in the struggle of the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW), Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa to become a king.

Baruwa who took over as President of the popular transport union from Alhaji Najeen Usman Yasin in 2019 is neck-deep in the ambition to become one of the kings in Ota area of Ogun West.

He is said to have built what is labeled “palatial palace” as a strong show of intention in the struggle to get the crown.

This development is said to be in the face of live impacting initiatives such as road works, facilitation of electricity supply, financial and related supports that have made him popular in the Balogun/Onjiwon area of Ota where he wants to be the pioneer traditional ruler.

The digs by societynow.ng, however, revealed that the NURTW President faces strong opposition from two key places – the state government and an influential king around the town he wants to rule.

The information at hand revealed that Baruwa is on the opposing side of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for refusing to accept its choice as the NURTW chairman in Ogun State.

Baruwa’s preference for one of his more loyal supporters to be the transport union’s headman in the state resulted in the suspension of NURTW activities and the making of Government candidate, Akeem Bodunrin more popularly known as Iyeru, the Chairman of the Park Management Services which took over the functions of NURTW.

Iyeru reported backed Dapo Abiodun’s ambition to become the Governor of Ogun State while Baruwa had sympathy for the cause of the “other side”.

“Unfortunately Baruwa didn’t know when to beat a retreat, especially when the issue of who becomes NURTW chairman in Ogun state came up after the election. Interestingly, the only things that changed in making Iyeru Park services manager are the office and uniform. He is making use of the structure of NURTW including the personnel in his new role “ societynow.ng learned

Added information has it that the Onilogbo of Ilogbo, Ota, Oba Samuel Olufemi Ojugbele is also fighting hard against Baruwa’s ambition to be king.

The opposition by the Onilogbo who is described as very influential on that axis is that the area Baruwa wants to rule over is part of his domain.

“Without government approval, Baruwa can’t be king. And he is at odds with the administration in power and there is the Onilogbo who is not a pushover as well. I don’t see him outfoxing these two oppositions to claim the throne despite the popularity his investment in the area has earned him” societynow.ng learned
